✧ Why This Story?
Midsummer is about love, but not the tidy kind. It is about love as confusion, jealousy, imagination, desire, performance, and the stories we tell ourselves when someone does not love us back.
It is also a celebration of people making theater together, especially people who may not be particularly qualified but are wonderfully committed. That combination of wonder, ridiculousness, and earnest effort feels very close to the heart of PaperMap.
About This Production
The forest will be created through the company. Music, movement, fabric, puppetry, voices, and transformation will help ordinary objects become something strange under moonlight. The Mechanicals will be central to the production’s joy, not treated as a side plot waiting for the fairies to return.
The language will remain Shakespeare’s, shaped for clarity, energy, and close connection with the audience.
Auditions
Auditions are currently anticipated for late May or early June 2027.
Rehearsals are expected to begin in June and will generally take place on weekday evenings.
