✧ Why This Story?
Steel Magnolias understands that humor and grief do not take turns. People laugh in difficult seasons. They tease one another when they are frightened. They show love through food, gossip, irritation, blunt honesty, and simply continuing to arrive.
We chose this play because its women are not symbols. They are funny, flawed, stubborn, loving people whose strength comes from their relationships rather than from pretending life does not hurt.
It is also a beautiful actor’s play. It asks for listening, trust, patience, and a company willing to let connection grow honestly.
About This Production
The salon will sit at the center of the theater, with audiences gathered close enough to notice every glance and every silence.
We will resist broad caricature and focus on the truth of these women, their community, and the time passing between visits. The laughter matters, as do the friendships. That is what allows the final movement of the play to close with the weight it deserves.
Auditions
Auditions are currently anticipated for January 2027.
Rehearsals will generally take place on weekday evenings for approximately four weeks, with additional time during the final rehearsal and performance weeks.
